SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

Restaurant review…

Is it possible to ‘do good’ by doing something in a first world country, that we take for granted, ie. ‘eating’?  In Maslow’s hierarchy of needs it’s at the top of the pyramid, but one of the sad known factors of the world is some people don’t have access to basic food.

With Italian heritage, it is quite nostalgic for me to share a meal with the people I hold dear to me,  with a table filled with flavoursome shared platters and bustling conversation and of course wine.  My Mediterranean blood, flowing so joyous from sharing a meal, part of lifestyle and in Melbourne with the abundance of good eateries our shared meal did not disappoint. So one happy dinner. The platters were generous and each morsel provided a taste punch in my mouth. The style of food is described as ‘ethically sourced and seasonal with a paddock to plate philosophy’. What’s not to like really?

I think as we are spoilt for choice around the world now with cuisines available in multiple countries, we lose the sense of what’s important with food and gathering for a dining experience. The quality, intention and purpose. Sure we can be nit-picky about our water glasses not being filled up, however I was sharing an experience with friends, with food that was lovingly made with good intention in an upbeat setting.

If you travel to Melbourne you can also enjoy a Feast worth more than a Merit, more like a gold star. For more information on Feast of Merit click here.
